#wherewelearnmatters

Support GADSZOOKS! 2014 Green Apple Day of Service projects and create positive environmental change today!

On September 27, seven schools across Oahu will participate in GADSZOOKS! 2014 Green Apple Day of Service, which brings together thousands of students, teachers, parents and community leaders from around the globe to plan a school sustainability project, and work with community volunteers to create positive environmental change. Last year, approximately 2,888,022 students were impacted in more than 2,091 service projects in 41 countries around the world to make our schools healthier, and more sustainable places to learn.

For the second year, the U.S. Green Building Council Hawaii Chapter Green Schools Committee is pairing professional green building community members and local schools in the GADSZOOKS! Match Program to create the best possible project for our schools . This year we're taking it outdoors and focusing on water conservation and resource management. Our amazing projects include:

  • Constructing a Raingarden at Manoa Elementary with PBR HAWAII
  • Constructing a Canoe Plant Cultural Garden and Pathway at Wilson Elementary with HHF Planners
  • Constructing a rain catchment system at Halau Ku Mana Public Charter School with C&C Waterworks and HKM Ohana
  • Constructing a composting demonstrating project at Waipahu High School with Kupu Hawaii
  • Constructing a edible 'Kinder'garden expansion at Soto Misson Academy with Mason Architects, Inc
  • Constructing a vegetable and native garden at SEEQS: the School for Examining Essential Questions of Sustainability with Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company, Inc.
  • Constructing a recycle center at Maemae Elementary School with Christie Fong.
